Tyco Electronics Limited is a global provider of engineered electronic components, network solutions, wireless systems and undersea telecommunication systems. It designs, manufactures, and markets products for customers in several industries, such as automotive, appliance, aerospace and defense, telecommunications, computers, medical equipment and consumer electronics. As of December 31, 2007, the Company had 121 manufacturing sites in 27 countries, providing approximately 500’000 products. In September 2008, the Company announced that it has completed the previously announced sale of its Radio Frequency Components and Subsystem business, which was formerly part of the Company's Wireless Systems segment to Cobham Defense Systems Division, a subsidiary of Cobham plc. The Company also completed the previously announced sale of its automotive radar sensors business, which was also formerly part of its Wireless Systems segment to Autoliv Inc. Both transactions closed on September 26, 2008.
