Bowles Creek Cattle Company

http://www.bowlescreek.com

Bowles Creek is located in the Eastern part of Texas in Cherokee County, east of the main interstate between Dallas and Houston. We are centrally located in the US within two to three hours of both major airports in Texas, DFW and George Bush International Airport in Houston. Alto is Spanish for "high," and the city gets its name because it is the highest point between the Angelina and Neches rivers. We are a family-owned and operated partnership consisting of co-owners Jeremy West and Randy Bowles, Jeremy's father-in-law. Jeremy runs the day-to-day operation of the ranch. Our ranch headquarters is situated on 185 acres in Alto, and our property has one of only three year-round wet creeks in our county running through it, is appropriately named "Bowles Creek." However, the creek was named long before we were here. It is named after the famous Cherokee Indian Chief Bowles. This is where our operation gets its name. Our goals are simply to raise quality animals, with our primary focus on producing true, naturally polled Pinzgauer cattle, as most Pinzgauers typically have horns. The first Pinzgauer cattle were brought to Canada in 1972 and to the USA in 1974, so this is a new breed not common to most beef producers. Our herd sire is naturally polled and we are concentrating on producing top-quality show animals. Our Pinzgauer cattle consist mostly of 100% full-blood Pinzgauers, some purebred Pinzgauers (not exactly 100%); and we also produce an F1 crossbred animal that is a cross between a Black Angus bull and a Pinzgauer cow. These calves retain the same unique markings as the Pinzgauers, but they are black in color. They quality as "Certified Angus" quality beef in tenderness and marbling of meat. Our climate is ideally suited for raising these wonderful animals--not too extreme, and our animals are always comfortable. We have excellent quality soil and climates which allow us to produce high quality hay from May until October most years, all while giving the cattle ample grazing conditions that allow them to grow and flourish at very consistent rates. If you are looking for high quality animals and want to deal with a young, energetic family-run operation that believes in making decisions that better the animals we are raising, you should come to Bowles Creek Cattle Company for your Pinzgauer cattle! We love our Pinzgauer cattle and love to talk about them, all while listening and learning as much as we can about this new and exciting future of beef production. Being from the Great State of Texas in the best country in the world, all while raising the best beef available, allows us to exhibit our pride and joy in Pinzgauer cattle. We also have a few Belle Terre Buffalo from time to time simply for observation.

Deiter Bros

http://www.deiterbros.com

The nucleus of the Deiter program is the partnership of brothers Doug & Roger Deiter and their wives Sandy & Beth. Doug & Sandy's son Kevin and his wife Carrie joined the operation full time in 1999. When Doug & Roger Deiter decided to develop a seed stock operation over twenty years ago, family traditions demanded that it be built on long-range solutions to complicated problems facing the beef industry. They would have to offer quality-breeding cattle that would be capable of generating profits for their commercial customers in a variety of trait areas. They also wanted to offer a program and services to assist customers market their product, quality feeder & fed cattle. With this in mind, the Deiters began to pursue a breed or breeds to become involved with. The various traditional "Pure Breeds" offered answers for their particular area of excellence. None however, offered the multi-purpose solutions Deiters were seeking. Setting breed politics and tradition aside, a blend of Continental and British genetics seemed the right solution. The Angus composite idea made sense and the combination of Chianina and Angus offered the most right answers. Angus contributes the black, polled factor and the strong maternal & production traits that have made the breed famous. The Chianina, influence provided the hybrid dimension for more muscle, feedlot performance and lean growth. An added bonus that hybrid vigor brings, is cow longevity, increased fertility and udder quality in the females with a composite breeding program. In 2001, we felt that our program had developed to a point where we would be well served by developing a second Hybrid line of genetics which would enable us to offer our existing customer base another option and hopefully allow our network of genetics and customer services to swing a bigger loop and attract even more customers. We chose SimAngus as that second Hybrid line as we felt they very well complimented our existing ChiAngus blend. The SimAngus Hybrid cattle have proven to very worthy and we continue to feel very good about our decision. A ChiAngus bull on a SimAngus cow or vice versa is proving to be a very dynamic breeding program. It enables our commercial producers to more efficiently utilize the benefits of heterosis with out experiencing the huge swings in phenotype that have plagued other cross breeding programs for years.
