The Faris-Moritz Equipment Company was founded in 1953, as a construction supply firm located at 1095 S. Jason Street. The two partners, Lloyd Faris and Charlie Moritz, were former key employees of the then Caterpillar dealership, McCoy Company. As the business grew, Lloyd and Charlie acquired new equipment lines, and some of those relationships have endured since the early years. It is not unusual for us to represent a manufacturer for decades, and some, such as Elgin, for nearly 50 years! What is amazing is the durability of that business model, given the great changes that have occurred in our society and in the way business has been conducted since the 1950's. Time passed, changes occurred, and the original owners eventually sold out and moved on. When Charlie Moritz retired the company name was changed to the present Faris Machinery Company. In 1976, the dealership passed into the hands of Roger Poulson, who stayed at the helm for 28 years. The main office has been at its present location in Commerce City since 1977. A second branch was opened in Grand Junction in 1998 with full sales, service, parts, and repair facility capabilities. A third branch operation was just recently opened in another important market-the Colorado Springs area. Roger Poulson sold his interest to his two sons upon his retirement in 2003. In a somewhat unusual ownership arrangement and structure, Todd Poulson and Giles Poulson serve as Co-Presidents of the company. Todd has been with the company since 1989 when he started as an outside sales person and works from the Commerce City office. Giles has worked for the company through two spans of time, most recently since 1996. Giles is working from the Commerce City branch as Corporate Sales Manager. The company has an excellent management group, and is constantly striving to hire, train and retain skillful and motivated people in all areas of the business.
