St. James Law P.C

http://www.stjames-law.com

St. James Law, P.C. formulates and implements creative solutions to business cash flow, insolvency and bankruptcy problems. Michael St. James, the principal of the Firm, has had 20 years experience limited to the business insolvency specialty. In 1993, he was selected as one of 155 attorneys to be designated "Board Certified - Business Bankruptcy" by the American Board of Bankruptcy Certification. Mr. St. James' has played a key role in numerous cases as counsel for the Debtor, the Creditors Committee or a principal creditor; most recently, Mr. St. James proposed the successful Plan of Reorganization in the American Basketball League bankruptcy case. The Firm maintains two important competencies in related sub-specialties. First, the Firm is sophisticated and focused on insolvency tax issues, which often can have a significant and unanticipated impact on a work-out or reorganization. Second, the Firm is attentive to and knowledgeable about intellectual property issues, which permit it capably to represent buyers, sellers, licensors and licensees of intellectual property in high technology insolvency cases. The Firm prides itself on developing creative solutions which minimize the business disruption and attorneys fees incurred by its clients. When counseling troubled businesses, the Firm always focuses first on the possibility of a negotiated solution, either with a few creditors or through a informal work-out rather than a bankruptcy filing. When representing creditors and acquirers of troubled businesses, the Firm focuses on the ultimate business objective, trying to streamline the process and avoid extensive litigation; the Firm's reputation for aggressive and tenacious litigation helps it negotiate early and successful settlements. The Firm is dedicated to the proposition that the practice of law is a service business. As a consequence, the Firm's clients are always able to contact their counsel. Also see the biography of Michael St. James.

Rice Pugatch Robinson & Schiller , P.A.

http://www.rprslaw.com

The law firm of Rice Pugatch Robinson & Schiller, P.A. offers its clients a sophisticated business insolvency practice including workouts and bankruptcies under both Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 and offers experienced representation in all aspects of complex Debtor/Creditor litigation in all courts, with a focus on bankruptcy related litigation. Rice Pugatch Robinson & Schiller, P.A. represent a diverse client base including creditors, debtors, trustees, assignees, receivers, and institutional lenders in some of the most high profile cases filed in South Florida. A major component of the Firm's bankruptcy related practice includes representation in all aspects of bankruptcy litigation, including fraudulent conveyances, preferences, turnover, stay relief, dismissal and conversion. In 1998, the Firm commenced one of the only two (2) jury trials before the Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida. Rice Pugatch Robinson & Schiller, P.A., is also highly qualified to represent its clients through the appellate process after trial. The Firm has successfully obtained decisions on its clients' behalf on precedent setting issues such as the transfer of intangible property rights, bankruptcy dismissals, fraudulent transfer of assets into exempt homestead, and that pre-petition writs of garnishment do not constitute a lien against assets of a bankruptcy estate (which has since been superseded by statute). The Firm acted as co-counsel for the insolvency administrator for the Flowtex/Schmider insolvency proceedings in the Federal Republic of Germany. The Flowtex insolvency and its related cases are believed to be the fifth largest fraud ever perpetrated in the Republic of Germany. The fraud is estimated at over 1.5 billion dollars. Additionally, the firm filed the involuntary petition that commenced the Financial Federated Title and Trust Case and then acted as Co-Counsel to the Trustee. The firm has successfully prosecuted cases that pierce the immunity provided by Florida's Homestead Exemption when funds, which were the proceeds of a fraud were used to purchase, improve or invest in homestead property. The Bankruptcy Court decision, which was affirmed and adopted on appeal in the 11th Circuit, is now binding precedent in the 11th Circuit. See Kozyak v. Levy (In re Financial Federated Title and Trust, Inc.), 273 B.R. 706 (Bankr.S.D.Fla. 2001), aff'd 347 F.3d 880 (11th Cir. 2003). Fraud detection and remediation constitutes a significant portion of the Firm's litigation practice both in and out of bankruptcy.

Stutman , Treister & Glatt PC

http://www.stutman.com

Stutman, Treister & Glatt is the preeminent bankruptcy boutique law firm. For more than 50 years, Stutman, Treister & Glatt has been a leader in the field of business reorganization and restructuring. Other firms may have bankruptcy "departments," or say they do what we do, but no other firm in the country has the depth and experience provided by ST&G's "experts only" bankruptcy professionals. Unlike many of our competitors, ST&G is not new to the field. Since the firm's founding in 1948, ST&G has practiced exclusively in the area of business bankruptcy and corporate restructuring. Specifically, ST&G's practice is devoted primarily to representing: Financially troubled businesses, both in and out of court Buyers and sellers of troubled companies Creditors' and bondholders' committees Significant shareholders and equity committees Hedge funds and other investors in "distressed " debt & securities Significant secured and unsecured creditors Plaintiffs and defendants in LBO and bankruptcy-related litigation ST&G has long been known as an innovator in the field. We have been involved in some of the most complex, nationally-known restructurings, like Enron, as well as other, smaller cases. In fact, many of our successes are achieved for our clients without the need for a chapter 11 case, and thus the client's problems, and our involvement, remain confidential. In every case, however, our team of bankruptcy experts strives to develop unique theories and strategies designed to do just one thing: maximize value for our clients. Unlike traditional law firms, ST&G does not "layer" its cases with large teams of associates overseen by partners who "administer" many cases concurrently, but have minimal "hands-on" involvement. Because of our attorneys' unparalleled expertise in the field, we staff our cases with fewer, but more experienced, lawyers. As a result, our fees usually end up being significantly less than those charged by our competitors. The bottom line is this: In the field of bankruptcy law, ST&G's lawyers have experience and expertise that are second to none. Whether involving a small, closely-held company, or a nationally recognized public company, ST&G has what it takes to get the best result, every time.
