We may not have the flash and advertising budget of some of our competitors, but we try to make up the difference with personal service. If you are looking for a specific book or books on a particular subject we will research it for you. If we don't have the book that you want in stock, we will be glad to order it for you. We can generally get almost any book that is still in print within 1-2 weeks. At the current time we have several thousand Computer Books in stock. In addition to the best selling books, we also carry books you won't see in other stores which cover some of the less used programs and areas of interest. We also tend to keep the books we have on-hand for older versions of software instead of returning the books to the publishers. In addition to our new books, we also have a large assortment of used computer books, these are usually priced at 1/2 their original prices. So if you're looking for books that have gone out of print, we may just have what you are looking for in stock! All of the books we currently have in stock are listed in our database, so use our database search to see if we have the book you're looking for!

Computer Bookshops Ltd

http://www.computerbookshops.com

Computer Bookshops® (CBL), the UK's premier computer book wholesaler/distributor, was founded by Ian & Margaret Maclean in 1978. As the computer market grew and with the arrival of the IBM PC, the company expanded rapidly, constantly discovering new opportunities for growth in this evolving technological world. By occupying a commanding position in the UK book market, we have built strong relationships with all of the leading publishers. Some of these have entrusted us as their sole supplier in the UK, an honour that we take very seriously. For over 30 years, we have seen huge changes in the way people work and use computers to run their lives. In keeping with this, 1995 saw the evolution of our unique merchandising system by utilising portable computers, giving our representatives access to national shelf sales information for every product and every customer, and fully automating the ordering process.

Majors Scientific Books , Inc.

http://www.majors.com

Majors is one of the oldest medical book distributors in this country. Incorporated by Dr. J. A. Majors in 1909, it has become the largest distributor of health science books in the United States, with warehouses and offices in four major cities. After working his way through medical school by selling books to doctors during summer vacations and in his spare time, Dr. Majors needed financing to begin his medical career. Upon graduation, what had started as a part-time job became a lifetime profession in the medical book business. He established his first headquarters in New Orleans, Louisiana, and let the major medical book publishers at that time know of his desire to warehouse their books and represent them in the South. A few years later, in 1914, he opened a second office and warehouse in Dallas, Texas (the corporate headquarters, which is now located in Dallas), and in 1948 established a third branch in Atlanta, Georgia. The Company continued to grow, and in 1956 a fourth office and warehouse was opened in Houston's famed Texas Medical Center. In 1964 the Houston Branch expanded into the sci-tech market, maintaining an inventory of books in business and management, geosciences, electronics, chemistry, physics and other highly specialized fields. In 1986 Majors acquired Medical & Technical Books in Los Angeles, California, giving the company a coast-to-coast distribution network. Majors founded a subscriptions division early in the company's history as a value-added service to the library customers. Over the years, Majors Scientific Subscriptions grew to be the largest vendor of medical subscriptions in the country. Early in 1993, that division was acquired by EBSCO Subscription Services, and a working relationship between EBSCO and Majors developed to foster a cooperative, customer-oriented partnership whereby each company helps to recommend the other's services to library clients. Our library customers also can take advantage of our Continuations Division's success. Organized in the early 1970s, Continuations provides standing order type services for irregularly published serials and monographs. The staff works out of the Dallas headquarters office to provide this service to libraries around the country. The Company's aim from the beginning has been to provide excellent SERVICE. With technology changing so rapidly, Majors continues to automate programs to accommodate the special needs of the customers they serve. Most important of all are the highly trained personnel dedicated to maintaining leadership in a highly competitive field. Today there is the same optimistic outlook for the future that Dr. Majors had in the very beginning, and the Company is looking forward to the years ahead. Dr. Majors passed away in 1963 at the age of 91. His two sons, J. A. Majors, Jr., and William H. Majors, are Chairmen of both J. A. Majors Company and Majors Scientific Books, Inc.

Manning Publications Co

http://www.manning.com

We publish computer books for professionals--programmers, system administrators, designers, architects, managers and others. Our key people work from their own offices across the US, all communicating with the center in Greenwich, CT, and with each other and our authors by email, Web, phone and mail. We think of our authors as the most valuable part of our business. We respect our readers and consider their interests and preferences every working day. Manning is a small, personal, old-world publisher where an author's opinion is sought and a reader's message is answered. Manning's focus is on computing titles at professional levels. We care about the quality of our books. We work with our authors to coax out of them the best writing they can produce. We consult with technical experts on book proposals and manuscripts, and we may use as many as two dozen reviewers in various stages of preparing a manuscript. The abilities of each author are nurtured to encourage him or her to write a first-rate book. Our books are designed without gimmicks. Their main goal is elegance and readability--we feel the two are often the same. Our covers are understated, decorated with pictures of worldwide regional dress habits of two hundred years ago. Many of our books come with online reader support: authors answer the questions of their readers in our Web-based Author Online discussion forums.
