The Manhattan Bureau LLC

http://www.manhattanbureau.com

The Manhattan Bureau, LLC is a news-based video production company headquartered in New York City. The Manhattan Bureau was established in 1997 by Grant Winter. After spending more than a decade and a half in television news, Grant started The Manhattan Bureau to fulfill an unmet need in the marketplace: "So much of the taped material I received as a TV journalist was poorly produced, poorly conceived, too difficult to use or simply impossible to understand. In short, many of these products were a waste of the client's money and a waste of my time." When he was producing the Fox Business Report, Grant received an average of about 100 pitches a day. Most pitches never made it past the voicemail or press release stages, "I only had a few seconds to spend on any one release, voicemail or VNR. The potential stories that went directly in the trash were the ones that were too hard to understand, too commercial, too difficult to put together or most often, too boring." The Manhattan Bureau tries to ensure that every tape shipped to every newsroom has a story on it that can be put directly on the air. Grant started his career as a Desk Assistant in the Washington Bureau of NBC News in 1982. Subsequent positions included reporter, writer, field producer, assignment editor and line producer at both at the network and local levels in Washington, DC, Paris, Florida and New York. He has covered everything from plane crashes to the porn industry. The death of Princess Diana to the birth of the internet revolution. He was an assignment editor in the DC bureau of ABC News when the Berlin Wall came down, DC Mayor Marion Barry was arrested, the US invaded Panama and the Chinese government crushed the democracy movement in Tiananmen Square. He wrote and produced daily coverage of the first Gulf War and covered the crack wars on the streets of Washington, DC. At one murder scene, where a woman washing dishes was hit by a stray bullet that crashed through her kitchen window, Grant will never forget a witness saying to him, "The scary thing is, those bullets have no names on them." While at Fox, Grant shared a section of the newsroom with Christina Summers, the producer of the Fox Style Report. In addition to her extensive experience in the world of fashion, Christina's background includes a childhood in Rome and a career in newsrooms, ranging from CNN to Fox to the WB. Her areas of coverage have included investigative reporting, business news and style. Christina's talents include the ability to use sophisticated editing techniques to turn almost any material into compelling television. She has traveled extensively for The Manhattan Bureau, including trips to Italy and the UK to shoot, write and edit an international presentation on Alzheimer's Disease. She has also done extensive work in the area of oral anti-fungal agents. Combined, Grant and Christina have more than 35 years of experience in TV news.

Aboriginal Peoples Television Network

http://www.aptn.ca

APTN has made every reasonable effort to inform cable and satellite providers serving the western provinces of these enhancements and has made numerous requests that they discontinue use of the APTN East signal and instead provide the more appropriate APTN West signal to viewers situated west of the Manitoba/Saskatchewan border. Although some cable providers have accommodated this request, unfortunately, Shaw Communications, the company that is accountable to APTN's principal western viewers stated that as of April, 2008 it would switch all of its systems to the APTN East Feed, effectively discontinuing the West Feed service that it had started to carry in some of its markets. Because the APTN West feed is the appropriate feed for the western provinces, scheduling information is distributed to service providers, on-line and print publications BASED ON THE WEST FEED. This has resulted in a three-hour discrepancy in scheduling information for viewers in the west who are currently receiving the incorrect East broadcast signal. APTN regrets any inconvenience to affected viewers and encourages them to contact their cable/satellite provider directly if they are currently experiencing these scheduling issues.
