Orica Limited is engaged in the manufacture and distribution of mining products and services, consumer products, chemical products and chemical services. The Company operates in seven segments: Mining Services, Minova, Consumer Products, Chemnet, Chemical Services, Other and Fertilisers. Mining Services segment is engaged in the manufacture and supply of explosives and mining services, initiating systems and blasting technology to the mining, quarrying, construction and exploration industries. Minova segment is engaged in the manufacture and supply of specialty chemicals for stabilization and ventilation systems in underground mining and civil works. The Company acquired Minova Group on January 1, 2007. In January 2007, the Company sold its Adhesives and Resins businesses to Hexion Specialty Chemicals. On October 26, 2007, the Company completed the acquisition of Excel Mining Systems LLC. On May 23, 2008, Orica Limited completed the acquisition of Strata Control Systems.
