Northeast Laboratory Services Inc

http://www.nelabservices.com

Northeast Laboratory Services is located at 227 China Road in Winslow, Maine. The business was founded in 1972 as Maine Poultry Consultants and later became Maine Poultry Consultants/Northeast Laboratory Services. Due to changes in Maine's poultry business during the laboratory's first decade, emphasis shifted to environmental chemistry and microbiology testing and to the production of microbiological culture media, and the name became Northeast Laboratory Services (NEL). During this period the laboratory saw incredible growth in terms of its staff and in the breadth of analytical and consulting capabilities within environmental chemistry and microbiology. In 1997, NEL merged with Binax, Inc. a Portland-based research and development firm. Binax/NEL operated as a separate entity to the Portland facility, complete with it's own management team and accounting functions. In 2001, Northeast Laboratory Services once again began operation as an independent laboratory, with Mr. Rodney "Beau" Mears as President & CEO. Today the laboratory stands at the forefront of the environmental services industry, with expertise in general and radiochemistry, and in food, environmental, occupational and public health microbiology.

Scientifics Ltd

http://www.scientifics.com

We operate throughout the UK and Ireland (with customers stretching from the Shetland Isles in the north, to the Isles of Scilly in the South), and sometimes further a field too. Recent assignments have been undertaken in India, Qatar, Bahrain, Portugal, Italy, Spain and the Czech Republic. Our field of expertise can be summarised very simply; we measure the emissions to atmosphere from industrial chimneys, vents and stacks, usually to allow our customers to demonstrate compliance with an emission limit they have been set by their Regulator. We have a diverse range of customers, from the more traditional (Cement Plants, Foundries, Power Stations, Incinerators, Steel Works, etc) to the more unusual (Cornish Pastie Factories, Pet Crematoria, Cake Factories, Clay Pigeon Manufacturers, etc). The key to our success is our people, both those within our Division, and those that support us in the laboratories, and at HQ, etc. We currently operate from 3 locations: - East Kilbride, managed by Barry Grant, with a head count of 10 - Stockport, managed by James Bealing, with a head count of 26 - Swindon, managed by Stuart Davidson, with a head count of 12 A lot of our work is repeat work, so it's extremely important for us to give our customers a superb service, as this means they will stick with us, whilst all the time we are adding new customers, a lot of whom we get through word of mouth, or from referrals. The work we do is extremely complicated, and is tightly regulated, as Scientifics has to be MCERTS accredited, as a company, and all our staff must be MCERTS certified at the appropriate level. This means that we have to spend a great deal of time and money getting our staff through their MCERTS exams, however, it does, to an extent, stop cowboy operators entering the market, and it allows us to charge a fair price for our services, whilst enabling us to pay respectable wages, but still make an acceptable return, given the high level of investment required. We pride ourselves on our "can-do" attitude, and we are always keen to find new customers, so if you know of any Stacks out there that we haven't benefited from the Scientifics touch, please let us know about them.
