Guildhall Arts Centre

http://www.guildhallartscentre.com

The Guildhall Arts Centre is a community-centred venue that aims to offer its customers innovative, stimulating and quality arts' experiences. Housed in what was Grantham's guildhall, jail and sessions hall (see Guildhall History) the Arts Centre is part of Cultural Services provided by South Kesteven District Council (SKDC) along with Stamford Arts Centre and The Bourne Corn Exchange. Our venue is predominantly a receiving theatre where we bring in professional touring shows and also hire the venue out to professional shows. In addition, Grantham has a thriving amateur scene and several groups from the area hire the venue for their productions. We produce one show of our own a year - our annual Christmas pantomime, in association with director Douglas Gorin - which is now in its 16th year. Alongside the shows, the Arts Centre is also a hub for workshops and community activities. We offer several workshops for a range of ages (see Regular Workshops) and our rooms are in constant use by businesses, organisations and individuals for meetings, workshops, fairs, conferences and parties (see Facilities). Our Box Office is also the Tourist Information Centre for Grantham and our staff provide both box office and tourist information services.

Gallery X

http://www.galleryx.org

Gallery X is a contemporary, cooperative art gallery of Visual, Performing and Literary artist members and volunteers. A non-profit, tax-exempt organization, Gallery X promotes a mission of cultural outreach through community partnerships, educational programs, and monthly exhibits. The former church building at 169 William St. has been transformed by Gallery X into two wonderful exhibition spaces: the Main Gallery upstairs is a large wide open space with high ceilings (20ft +) and two movable walls, and the Frederick Douglass Gallery located on the lower level. Each gallery space contains a stage for performances. There is a full kitchen on the lower level making the facility an ideal venue for hosting events. The building is fully handicap accessible with an access ramp, a restroom and a wheel chair lift. Gallery X collaborates with local arts and cultural organizations to promote and stimulate artistic awareness in the community. As a member and active participant of AHA! (Art, History and Architecture in the City), Gallery X provides both art and culture free to the public.
