Central Distributors , Inc.

http://www.centraldistributors.com

Central Distributors Inc. (CDI) was founded in September of 1934 by Albert J. Barriault. During this time, popular brands of beer and ale were distributed to some 300 retailers in seven counties. Fern J. Barriault joined his father in the business in 1946 after completing his service in the Navy. Fern accepted his current title as president in 1954 after his father passed away. He has held this position for 42 years. Fern was joined full-time in the business by his two sons; Ronald in May of 1970 and Dennis in October of 1971 respectively. After learning and performing all aspects of CDI operations, Ron introduced the company to the wine industry in 1970. The wine department has grown tremendously since that time and it continues to be a force for CDI. Central Distributors Inc, and CDI is currently one of the state's leading wine wholesalers. Dennis assumed leadership of the beer division in 1971, and like his brother, he introduced a new aspect to the company, the non-alcoholic beverage segment of CDI's portfolio. These business segments combined, contributed to making Central Distributors Inc. a leader in Maine's beverage distribution arena. In addition to growth through increased sales and territory management and expansion CDI has capitalized on its business strengths through select acquisitions. In 1980, CDI successfully purchased State Distributors of Auburn and Knox Distributors of Rockland, thus increasing the company's territory by more than 20%. Central Distributors has always been a leader in the beer and wine distribution business. CDI was first in the market to fully computerize its operations, utilizing a fast-flow wine packing system, and employ climate controlled warehouse and has converted its truck fleet to modern diesel-powered trucks with 12 bay beverage bodies. Today CDI's fleet consists of a mixture of 12 box and 16 bay beverage bodies with tractor trailer trucks and tandems to service its whole geographic area. Central Distributors has outgrown two facilities since its inception. In 1987 CDI moved to its present location at 15 Foss Road, Lewiston, Maine, and has recently expanded its warehouse another 32,000 square feet, and installed a state of the art wine packing system. Today, CDI proudly serves more than 2,000 customers in 15 counties and currently employs 102 people.

Lionstone International Inc

http://www.lionstone.com

Lionstone first established dominance as a source for the direct-sales segment of the wine industry, developing retail accounts across the country which now number more than 150 independent wine consultants. These consultants serve over 250,000 consumers with personal, in-home/office wine samplings, or through telemarketing. In 1991 the world's largest mail-order wine company, Direct Wines® of London, contacted Lionstone to handle the marketing and distribution for the launch of their new program in the United States. Success in developing a distribution network for this venture from the UK led to further associations with several new companies, featuring direct-marketing of beer and wine to private consumers across the country. As the internet boom took off, Lionstone was there to help fledgling Virtual Vineyards, Inc. launch its major web venture. The distribution network that Lionstone had established gave Banc Boston Robertson Stephens, Inc. the confidence to raise $27.9 million for this new venture, which then changed its name to Wine.com. In the venture's second year, Lionstone distributed over 30,000 cases to consumers nationwide. In 2001 Lionstone, reacting to the 21st Amendment Enforcement Act, set up its "winery direct" operation with affiliates on the West Coast. From its Sonoma, California location Lionstone now helps US wineries ship more than 30,000 cases of wine each year to their customers in restricted states. This concept which allows US wineries direct access to their customers has been extended to foreign wineries. Thousands of visitors are welcomed each year to tasting rooms at estates in Italy, France, Chile, and other famous wine regions. Now these consumers can order the wines they sample at our partners abroad and have them delivered direct to their homes through the Lionstone network. In 2003 Lionstone established "Great USA Flags", a subsidiary marketing non-wine related items. The most prominent product was the only 'authorized' reproduction of the "Iraqi Most Wanted" playing cards, used by alliance forces to identify leaders of the Hussein regime. Substantial donations have been made out of these sales to several Veterans' organizations. Over the years Lionstone has worked to develop and expand its main functions: the sourcing of wine and spirits especially suited for direct-sales, internet programs, and specialty retail markets. a network of compliant interstate registration and distribution . import services. wine education. Lionstone International® provides a wide range of unique services to various companies, both domestic and foreign, looking for approved interstate distribution of their controlled products. Major Brands Inc.

http://www.majorbrands.com

Major Brands originated as E& L Wholesale, a wine and spirits distributor in St. Joseph, Mo., founded by Joseph, "Kewpie", Epsten in 1934. Kewpie later helped his son Robert, "Bobby", Epsten expand the business, when Bobby opened General Liquors in Kansas City in 1951. As the business continued to grow and to establish a reputation for carrying the beverage industry's leading brands it merged with Standard Wholesale to form General Standard in 1967, becoming Kansas City's largest distributor of premium beverage alcohol. In the early 1980s, Bobby became the sole owner of General Standard, with David Vittor, who joined the company in 1972, at his side as general manager. With their strong leadership, the company continued its growth and the expansion of its premium product portfolio. Bobby's son Todd joined the business as director of marketing in 1984. And, in 1988, General Standard became a statewide distributor when it bought and merged two wholesale distributors in St. Louis and bought existing distributorships in Columbia, Springfield and Cape Girardeau. The new operation was named Major Brands, Inc., with General Standard in Kansas City being re-named Major Brands a few years later. Today, Major Brands is the largest wine and spirits wholesale distributor in the state and the only large distributor that remains Missouri owned, employing about 500. It's known throughout the industry for its extensive portfolio of leading brands as well as for its outstanding management and commitment to customers, suppliers and associates. It remains a family business, with Bobby Epsten as chairman, Todd Epsten as CEO, and David Vittor, as president and chief operating officer. At Major Brands, a family business means that employees, customers, suppliers and the community are treated like family. As a result, we are celebrating our 70th anniversary in 2004, with our greatest success, great brands, great customer service and great associates--ever.

QuikTrip Corporation

http://www.quiktrip.com

QuikTrip is an American-owned, privately held company with a 49-year history in the convenience store/gasoline retail industry. The gasoline and diesel fuel we offer to our customers is purchased from various refineries all located in the U.S. There have recently been a number of questions raised about whether QuikTrip buys gasoline from Middle Eastern or South American countries. We do not purchase any crude oil or have any influence on the purchasing decisions made by the companies who own the refineries. As an independent marketer, we do not operate any pipelines or terminals; we are strictly a retailer of quality motor fuels and convenience items to consumers in our markets. All gasoline marketers in the United States get their gasoline from various terminals in their cities. This gasoline has been mixed in pipelines with gasoline from a number of refineries. Although we may purchase our gasoline from a specific refiner, the gasoline we actually pull out of the pipeline is really generic. Even retail outlets of major oil companies end up drawing their gasoline out of the same pipeline as everyone else.
