Queer Soup is a collaboration of Queer Artists who cultivate new works that introduce, unite, and incite audiences by using laughter to smuggle ideas across society's borders. Queer Soup is the result of a production collaboration between the Brian + Mal Show and J. Rene Productions. In the summer of 2002, these two companies joined theatrical forces to present a sold-out performance of Instant Queer Soup at the Boston Center for the Arts. With a successful collaboration in the making, the companies merged to form Queer Soup in response to audiences' demand for local queer comedy on the Boston stage. Our comedy is queer, and so are we, but you don't have to be in order to love our shows. We perform to bring people together! In addition to producing original comedies, we at Queer Soup also believe in supporting our community. Through benefit events, gigs, and performances Queer Soup is able to donate time, talent, and sometimes a portion of ticket proceeds to community organizations. Launched in 1999, Altered Ego Entertainment is a film and theater production company based in New York City. NEWS: We are now in production, shooting the feature film, The Hindenburg Omen. It is the story of a professional tennis player who comes to learn that he is a child born of a rape and who falls prey to an ambitious advertiser, who teaches him how to fear himself. Cast include Mike Williams as Frost McMan (here below) and Jason Odell Williams as Jason Dwight, the advertiser. Max Shuppert helms the camera department. Written and directed by Frederic Colier. NEWS: In the meantime, Made in China has been short-listed at the Berlin Film Festival 08. Final response is planned for January 15th. The script has also been entered in other outstanding festivals. M & N won the Digital Filmmaker Award at the IFP Market in Sept 2007 in the Emerging Narrative category. The script, already a finalist at the Sundance Lab 07, has qualified for the first round with the CNC in France and is awaiting funding. Its creator is in negotiation with several European production companies. Shooting is forecast for Summer 08 in Northern France and Belgium. (Check Pre-Production Page).
