DTI Software

http://www.dtisoft.com

DTI software was established in 1995 with the intent to offer a complete solution package for Interactive TV markets, including hardware and software content. To that effect, at the onset, the company invested time and effort developing games and interfacing software (GUI) on the then selected Motorola HELLCAT (MPC-821) and later the BLACKBIRD set-top box running Microware's OS9000. After mastering OS9000 software development, the company focused on producing a menu engine with the required supporting menu creation toolset, as well as a few demonstration applications for its system, this would become the cornerstone of DTI's offering. Targeting ease of use, changeability and growth potential, DTI produced the IMEN menu engine and IMED menu editing tools. In addition, the company focused on producing a number of demonstration applications to run within its menu engine product. We chose to produce games to make the demonstrations more attractive to potential customers. These early development activities set the tone for DTI's future; by early 1997, the company had completed the development of a high quality embedded menu engine (IMEN) with appropriate supporting tools (IMED). IMED (Interactive Menu Editor) is the tool used for IMEN by airlines and third party that outlines the screen display. It adapts, creates and allows the user to develop additional screens in the same style and format.. In parallel to those developments in 1997, Rockwell Collins Passengers Systems , RCPS (at the time Hughes Avicom) selected OS9000 as the embedded OS for the seat box of its next generation IFE system that was to be named the Total Entertainment System (TESÔ). At that time, following architectural definition of the system, RCPS started seeking potential content providers with OS9000 products or expertise to help speed up TESÔ development and deployment. Following initial contact between RCPS and DTI, the possibility of a future business relationship began to emerge. DTI started the development of games and other entertainment content for the platform. The IMEN menu engine was successfully adapted to TESÔ by DTI and delivered to RCPS by late 1997. Today, IMEN is flying on over 600 aircraft on airlines such as British Airways, American Airlines, Air France, Thai Airways, Tam, Delta, Japan Airline and others.

Iridon Interactive AB

http://www.iridon.com

Iridon Interactive, based in Kungälv, Sweden, is an ambitious and focused producer of console and computer games on a global scale. The company was established in 1998. Since then, it has carved a niche for itself by producing original action and arcade oriented titles for the value-priced and young player markets. Presently, Iridon Interactive is developing and producing for multimedia PCs, the Xbox video game system from Microsoft, and Nintendo® Game Boy® Advance. Iridon Interactive was formally incorporated as a publishing entity of computer games in February 1998. The company focuses on publishing, producing and licensing third-party titles from external development teams. Iridon was the first (and, to date, the only) Swedish company ever to enjoy full publishing status membership in the ELSPA. The firm employs a number of producers and creative personnel who manage both in-house and external development teams, hired temporarily for specific projects. Currently, Iridon has contracts with developers of Xbox, Game Boy Advance and PC games. This satellite system has been Iridon's production model since day one: a model which is not dissimilar to that which has been adopted by the vast majority of movie producers in Hollywood. To the end of maintaining a constant flow of new titles, external development projects continue apace. Internally, Iridon Interactive is proud to house some considerable talent. Iridon employs ex-Disney art directors whose movie-making experience includes work on The Lion King, Aladdin, and Hercules. This pool of talent, combined with the company's proven acumen in dealing with third parties, ensures that Iridon Interactive remains at the forefront of European videogame production. Iridon is a decisively forward thinking company. In addition to its PC publishing activities, it aspires to becoming a renowned publisher of PlayStation2, Xbox and Game Boy Advance software. With ten games published to date in more than 40 countries, including recent releases Wanted Guns (for the PC) and Pure Pinball (for the Xbox video game system), Iridon Interactive has positioned itself as a purveyor of high quality value-priced action games for the mass market. The company's game catalogue shows that Iridon knows how to cater well for both general consumers (with games such as Pure Pinball) and younger players (with highly-rated titles such as Turbo Turtle Adventure on the Game Boy® Advance). Iridon has forged strong relationships with distributors across Europe, America and Asia. This positioning, along with with the company's ability to target emerging markets such as Russia, Poland, and China, gives Iridon its market niche and the incentive to continue in the same successful course that it has taken thus far.
