The density and hardness of our dibase stone are the very characteristics for the unmatched quality of our crushed stone. Listed below are the physical properties of our stone: Specific Gravity - 3.01 Absorption - 0.5% L.A. Abrasion - 14.3 Soundness - 0.4% Recognized by various brand names throughout the dimensional stone industry, (Virginia black, starlight mist, black mist, ebony mist, and jet mist), the Mitchells, Virginia traprock is acknowledged as one of the premium black stones in the marketplace today. This strikingly beautiful stone when polished gives the effect of white misting on a deep black background. The misting ranges from a light dusting of white to streams of white marbleizing. This stone has found a wide range of uses within the dimensional stone industry. Among the most commom uses are those for building facing stone, interior and exterior flooring applications, countertops, memorials, and sculptured or turned ornaments. This stone, more available than at any previous time, is destined to become the domestic black stone of choice in the coming years.
