David Spetrino established Plantation Building Corp in 1997. The firm evolved from Cornerstone Restorations, a contracting business owned by Nathans that focused on the restoration of historic structures in downtown Wilmington and throughout Eastern North Carolina. Among Plantation's first projects was the acclaimed restoration of the historic Graystone Inn (Bridgers Mansion). This structure dominates downtown Wilmington's streetscape and social fabric. From re-formulating the mortar to match that which was originally used to point the stones, to taking castings of damaged plaster details for repair, Plantation demonstrated it's dedication to detail and fine workmanship.
The magnitude and visibility of that assignment led Plantation to immediate consideration among Wilmington's most reliable and trustworthy builders. But restoration is not the firm's only specialty. Retirees moving to the Southeastern Carolina coast have created a niche market for custom design building projects, especially along the beaches and in Brunswick County. Taking advantage of this market, Plantation has added numerous custom homes to their portfolio in communities such as Winding River Plantation, St. James Plantation, and The Landing at Southport. With an increasing number of jobs in all categories, the growth of the firm has been exponential each year.
Plantation Building Corp is a licensed unlimited commercial contractor. Corporate offices are located in Historic Downtown Wilmington. The firm, while working with a number of subcontractors, employs 25 on their full time design/build staff.
