WHFR primarily serves the residents of West Hempfield Township, and provides mutual aid to surrounding communities including East Hempfield Township, Mountville Borough, Rapho Township, and Columbia Borough. Our first due area consists primarily of residential developments and rural farmland, along with some industry and commercial buildings. We currently run a 1999 Seagrave Custom engine, a 1993 Pierce Saber engine, a 1992 Spartan/Saulsbury rescue, a 1999 Mack/New Lexington tanker, a 2002 Ford F550 squad/QRS unit, a 2000 Ford F350 fire police unit, and a 2006 Ford Expedition Duty Vehicle.
Our personnel include over 50 active responders, 20 active support members, and 100 social members. Our members spend hundreds of hours each year training to become proficient in our skills, holding fire prevention programs and supporting the community.
