  • Warrington Borough Transport is committed to making its services accessible to all existing and future customers. Services are being improved all the time and we are always open to hearing how we can make the service more accessible to you. Please let us know if you are experiencing a barrier to using the services and what would make it easier for you to use the buses for travel around Warrington. What we are doing at the moment: Vehicle Accessibility: The company aims to meet the standards required by the Disability Discrimination Act for access to buses. The Disability Discrimination Act sets target dates by which all buses used to operate local bus services must be wheelchair accessible and conform to other related accessibility criteria e.g. entrance step height and seat spacing. All minibuses must comply by 2011, all single deckers by 2015 and all double-deckers by 2017. The company has a bus replacement plan, which will ensure it meets this accessibility target. Over and above this, the company aims to have 75% of its local service fleet wheelchair accessible by 2006, the date at which the new Warrington Bus Station will be open. Wheelchair accessible vehicles include ramped access, level or gently sloping floors, tactile and brightly coloured stanchions and bell pushes, wide seat spacing, priority seats for senior citizens, all of which help disabled people generally. Flourescent passes: Flourescent Passes are available from Warrington Borough Council for you to flag up to the driver when you signal for a bus to stop. The driver will then know that you need the access floor lowering for you to board the bus.
