The Quabbin covers 39 square miles with a 118 mile shoreline, and is the primary drinking water source for metropolitan Boston. It was built in 1939 by flooding a central Massachusetts valley and has become a tourist attraction because of the wildlife and scenery. Quabbin Reservoir provides nesting habitat for bald eagles and excellent fishing.
