  • Combining 18th Century woodworking practices with 20th century production efficiencies, Eldred Wheeler created a new category of traditional American furniture; superbly made and historically faithful pieces, each built to become a treasured antique in its own right with the passage of time. Emmett Eldred and Bill Wheeler launched their vision of creating affordable reproductions in 1977. Eldred Wheeler grew from a four-man shop and transcended the typical constraints of bench-made artisans to transform into one of the nation's premier designers and builders of 18th Century country high style furniture. Today the company crafts a wide variety of sought-after period forms in native woods of Cherry and Tiger Maple typical of the early American cabinetmakers. These pieces range from the simple Queen Anne tea table to elaborate secretary desks and carved and scrolled Dunlap highboys. The quality and historical credibility of Eldred Wheeler furniture spawned a loyal and cherished following of collectors which continues today. In the process Eldred Wheeler has incorporated 21st century requirements into 18th century forms to augment our highly prized signature pieces with useful and aesthetically accurate forms that also gracefully serve today's needs in the home. At Eldred Wheeler, we strive to maintain honest, authentic and enduring processes and products that preserve a 200 year-old American tradition of cabinetmaking. We do so with attention to detail, a disdain for shortcuts, and a commitment to bring these products to our customers at affordable prices. This devotion to quality, value and economy was standard fare in early American history. We are proud to keep it alive and invite you to learn more about our company and products by visiting our online catalog, one of our showrooms or contacting our Mail Order Group.
