  • Ellipsis Digital Systems is a fabless IC company that develops highly integrated silicon & software solutions for broadband communications systems. Our initial focus is the WLAN market. We believe that as the WLAN station (STA) market matures, the WLAN radio will become a commodity component offered by several suppliers at a competitive price, while the destiny for the digital component of the STA is to become embedded at the silicon level (SoC-embeddable). On the other hand, we see the WLAN Access Points (APs) as becoming robust multi-standard broadband communication bridges that provide a range of powerful network management and control features. With this vision, we have developed innovative SoC-embeddable WLAN solutions using our ISiS (Integrated Silicon & Software) WLAN Platforms. Our ISiS WLAN Platforms include the MAC and PHY, as well as our powerful Digital Compensation & Conversion System and other patent-pending technologies. Leveraging our innovative design techniques and proprietary technologies, we're delivering complete, fully optimized & verified WLAN SoC-embeddable solutions with the lowest gate count and power consumption, significantly extended operational range and superior performance. And because our ISiS WLAN Platforms were designed from the ground-up to be SoC-embeddable there are no integration hassles. Concurrently, we are building on this foundation by developing highly integrated, single-chip ASIC+Software products for AP applications. We call these solutions "E-Bridges." E-Bridges are designed to provide seamless bridging from wired access (e.g., ADSL or DOCSIS) directly to the WLAN, while maintaining Quality of Service (QoS), network and content security, access control and distribution management. E-Bridges leverage our patent-pending die-level sharing technology to lower the cost of the ASIC to a fraction of the accumulative cost of using separate solutions. E-Bridges can be embedded in other products (such as in a set-top box or home gateway) or can be used to develop a stand-alone "Smart Bridge" product that not only combines the functions of the WLAN AP and the cable or DSL modem, but is also able to provide a number of important network management, control and security features. The Ellipsis team has hundreds of years of collective experience in developing digital communication systems and ASICs, including radio design, manufacture and test. Our team pioneered the "Total System Solution" approach to SoC design and was the first to develop highly integrated chipset solutions for GSM and AMPS that included the entire system--radio, baseband, mixed signal, protocol stack and MMI. As a result, we have designed our systems to take into account issues that other companies often overlook, such as how all the pieces work together within the total system (not just the components we sell), back-end design, process issues, manufacturability, test issues, standards certification requirements, real world performance and interoperability among others. For example, even though we don't offer a radio front end (RFE), our team has a great deal of experience building radios (BTDT). With this experience, we are able to design products with features that simplify radio design, enhance radio performance and simplify product manufacture and test. There are a number of companies developing stand-alone WLAN radios, which will facilitate the movement of the WLAN market to embedded solutions. We've partnered with some of the best radio suppliers to ensure our customers can obtain a complete end-to-end solution if desired. Ellipsis was founded in May 2000 and is headquartered in Carlsbad, California with an Engineering Center in Cairo, Egypt. Our highly skilled team of over 45 engineers brings together extensive experience in digital communications systems and software engineering, embedded systems design, modeling & simulation, radio design, processor architecture, ASIC design and foundry process technology.
