  • The Cleveland Academy of Trial Attorneys was founded in 1959 by a group of dedicated Cleveland lawyers representing working people injured through the acts of others. The organization continues to be dedicated to excellence in education and information access allowing members to better represent their clients in all areas of personal injury including medical malpractice and product liability law. The Academy is operated by selected Officers and a Board of Directors which meets monthly to discuss and plan upcoming events such as educational seminars and charitable fundraisers, managing and updating a 10,000 expert deposition bank, issuing periodic Newsletters, and recruiting new members. Benefits of academy membership include access to: THE EXPERT DEPOSITION AND BRIEF BANK: A huge collection of reports and depositions of experts routinely used by the defense bar, and detailed briefs concerning key issues encountered in the personal injury practice. THE ACADEMY NEWSLETTER: Published multiple times per year, contains summaries of significant unreported Court of Appeals decisions. Also contains recent verdict and settlement reports which can be an invaluable source of information when comparing the outcome and experts used in cases similar to your own. LUNCHEON SEMINARS: C.L.E. accredited luncheon seminars, six to nine times per year, includes presentations by experienced trial lawyers, judges and expert witnesses on trial strategy and current litigation topics. These lunches also provide networking opportunities with other lawyers, experts and judges. THE BERNARD FRIEDMAN LITIGATION SEMINAR: This annual half or all day C.L.E. seminar has featured lecture styled presentations and mock trial demonstrations with a focus group jury. Guest speakers invariably include judges from the trial bench, court of appeals, industry experts and trial lawyers speaking on current topics that are, at that moment, affecting your cases. ACADEMY SPONSORED SOCIAL AND CHARITABLE EVENTS: These include the annual installation dinner, the golf outing and Youth Challenge's annual Regatta fundraiser, dedicated to sports and recreation for children with physical disabilities.
