  • Balser Companies focuses almost exclusively on providing consulting and administrative services for nonqualified deferred compensation plans and similar executive benefits plans for large employers who require customized solutions. One of the strengths of working with Balser is we serve dozens of large employers in the Fortune/FT Global marketplace, and have done so for over 10 years. Over time we have honed best practices for design, implementations and conversions-- and gained a reputation of being extremely competent and thorough in this area. We have worked with many former/existing administrators and general benefits consultants to create or improve a wide spectrum of benefit plans. Our history began when pioneer Ron Balser co-founded an independent, private predecessor firm in 1968 that focused on the newly emerging company-sponsored supplemental retirement benefits market and the role of employers as benefit providers. In 1976, the firm's scope expanded when we co-founded Management Compensation Group (MCG), a nationwide cooperative of specialists in corporate sponsored benefit plans, wealth management and private client services. We assisted some of the largest employers in the country with their growing pension obligations, offering solutions for the corporations and the executives. Our advanced position in benefit technology began in 1994 when Balser became a market leader in adapting our recordkeeping services to accommodate executive deferral plans with daily valuation, special provisions, special bonuses, separate "discrete" plan years and multiple-investment, 401(k)-style plan features. As a consequence of delivering recordkeeping solutions over many years, we are experienced in analyzing each plan's unique situation, finding the best procedures, and supporting even the most complicated plan designs. Balser offers unique designs, implementation and enrollment services, personal account services, funding strategies and administrative services that support deferred compensation, supplemental executive retirement plans (SERPs), executive life insurance, and executive income protection programs (long-term disability and long-term care insurance plans), as well as state-of-the-art benefit plan technology and administration. Our focus on the executives of large employers makes us particularly well-suited for auditing existing benefit plans, recommending changes to HR and Finance, and converting plans to new, better administration.
