Midwest United Energy (MUE) is a retail gas marketing company headquartered in metropolitan Denver, Colorado. MUE is a wholly owned subsidiary of Midwest Energy, Inc. a gas and electric distribution cooperative in Hays, Kansas. MUE markets primarily to end users in Nebraska, Kansas, Wyoming and Colorado. MUE traces its beginning to United Gas Services which was founded in 1998 as a subsidiary company of United Power, an electric cooperative based in Brighton, Colorado. In 1999 MUE was formed when United Power formed a partnership with Midwest Energy. In 2001, Midwest Energy bought out United Power's interest. MUE has grown in sales volumes from 6.9 million Dekatherms (Dth) per year as United Gas Services to about 10.2 million Dth per year presently. MUE has participated for six years in the Nebraska Choice Gas Agricultural and Residential programs both on its own and as a partner with the Public Alliance for Community Energy (ACE). MUE has also participated in the Wyoming Choice Gas program for the past four years. This experience has demonstrated MUE's ability to effectively manage supply for unbundled retail customers. MUE is a small company with an experienced staff. The professional staff averages over 15 years of gas industry experience. This experience has involved many aspects of the industry: producers, pipelines, distributors and marketers. With this experience base MUE is prepared to manage the routine activities while having the knowledge to handle the unexpected. MUE is small enough to respond quickly while having the financial strength to persist in difficult market conditions.
