Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies

http://www.siit.sk.ca

SIIT delivers programming at campuses located throughout the province. Community-based training is delivered when requested. Various programs are delivered through joint-management arrangements with Tribal Councils. SIIT delivers a variety of programming as follows: SIIT collaborates with the provincial universities and other educational institutions to deliver diploma (two years), certificate (one year) and trades programs. SIIT enhances the curriculum of some of these programs to reflect the unique training needs of SIIT students. As First Nations evolve, their training needs change as well. SIIT develops unique programming that is not available at existing provincial institutions. The programs are designed to strike a balance between the technical and educational skills required and the cultural traditions and knowledge of the students. SIIT actively seeks partnerships with industry and employment sectors to deliver training programs that are directly linked to employment for the graduates. A variety of academic and personal upgrading programming options are available for First Nations adults, ranging from literacy programming to Adult Grade 12 to post-secondary preparation programs at SIIT. The demand in this area continues to grow each year. SIIT has the capacity to deliver SIIT-developed programs to interested First Nations outside of Saskatchewan. SIIT has established working relationships with other major institutes in Canada.
