Wittenberger Bus Service was started by Calvin J. Wittenberger in the mid 1940's. He had started in the automobile business in 1928 when he opened Central Chevrolet Sales Company. There was a need in the area at the time to haul beets for the local Libby's cannery, so he started a trucking company. Then the need arose to transport workers to the beet fields. One idea blossomed into another and soon students were being transported to and from school. In 1948 Calvin was one of the founding members of the Wisconsin School Bus Association. His son Gene B. Wittenberger ran the business through the early 1990's. It is currently operated by Gene's son, Fred Wittenberger. The company is in it's third generation. Wittenberger Bus Service is a full service student transportation company. We strive to provide every transportation need that our school districts may have, including daily pupil service to and from school, special education busing, and extra curricular event busing. We also provide charter bus service to the area. Wittenberger Bus Service has been serving the Hartford area for over 50 years.
