Family Life Centre

http://www.f-l-c.ca

The Family Life Centre also offers the Families & Schools Together Program in conjunction with local elementary schools. This program aims to strengthen family and community relationships, and to empower parents to support their children at home, school, and in the community. The Family Life Centre also provides services to young offenders and youth before the courts through the Youth and Animal Project, Probation Programs and the Youth Violence Prevention Program. The services for young offenders focus on the provision of anger management groups. In partnership with the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (O.S.P.C.A), the Family Life Centre offers the Youth and Animal Project (Y.A.P). Through this program anger management is combined with training behaviourally challenged shelter dogs as a therapeutic basis for changing destructive attitudes and behaviours in young offenders. The Family Life Centre offers Teen Anger Probation groups for youth on probation, which concentrates on providing anger management and conflict resolution skills within a group counselling environment. The Family Life Centre also offers the Youth Violence Prevention Program for youth who have difficulties with relationship violence, issues of power and control or anger management. The program helps youth develop relationship skills to successfully cope with difficult feelings, manage their anger, communicate effectively, resolve conflict and problem solve.
