Sisters Offering Support

http://www.soshawaii.org

Sisters Offering Support is the only agency of its kind in Hawaii combating commercial sexual exploitation and helping youth avoid recruitment into the sex trade. Due to this fact, and that our knowledge and expertise are derived from experiential individuals who were once victims of sexual exploitation, SOS has become Hawaii's 'expert' in the field of exploitation of the sex trade. SOS is affiliated internationally with ECPAT (End Child Prostitution, Pornography and Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes). SOS holds active local memberships in Hawaii Youth Services Network and the coalition of POCSE (Protect Our Children Against Sexual Exploitation).

Kristin Brooks Hope Center

http://www.hopeline.com

Kristin Brooks Hope Center is a public benefit corporation whose focus and mission is suicide prevention and depression awareness education. One of KBHC's direct services is the National Hopeline Network 1.800.SUICIDE (784-2433). This Network connects callers - people who are depressed or suicidal, or those who are concerned about someone else - automatically to an American Association of Suicidology (AAS) or CONTACT USA certified crisis center nearest to where the call is placed. It brings the tremendous knowledge, skill and resources of existing crisis centers under the safety net of a single, easy-to-remember, toll-free telephone number. KBHC, through the National Hopeline Network, makes appropriate, critical services available to all. For a list of crisis centers nearest your location, check CRISYS - Crisis Response Information System. This data base provides the name, address, telephone numbers, and other information identifying whether a crisis center is AAS or CONTACT USA certified or a member of the National Hopeline Network.

The Network/La Red

http://www.thenetworklared.org

The Network/La Red is one of the few domestic violence programs in the country that understands the difference between BDSM and abuse, and is dedicated to educating others about this difference. Throughout its 18-year history, this dedication has been evident in the organization's philosophy, publications, and outreach and education efforts. Over the past four years, The Network/La Red and NELA have collaborated on a special outreach program designed to educate other domestic violence programs, law enforcement officials, as well as people who practice BDSM about the difference between BDSM and abuse. The money that is raised during The Masquerade Ball funds support services to survivors of domestic violence. The Network/La Red provides these much needed services to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender survivors as well as survivors from the BDSM community regardless of gender or sexual orientation.

Public Allies Inc

http://www.publicallies.org

Public Allies provides young adults with a unique opportunity to serve in local communities while receiving training and exposure to current New York City leaders. Allies have the opportunity to discuss current issues and develop solutions and implement those ideas in community service projects. In addition, one day a week, Allies gather together as a class for training by local community leaders who share with them the knowledge and skills they need to become active community members. These weekly interactions help Allies learn first hand what it takes to build community as they work each week with twenty-four other Allies from different racial and ethnic backgrounds, religions and experiences. Our goal is to create the next generation of non-profit leaders.
