Southern Music Company was opened in downtown San Antonio in 1937 and moved to the 30,000 square-foot location at 1100 Broadway in 1950. On the first floor were the choral, vocal, piano/sheet music, and book departments. The second floor contained the band, instrumental, and orchestra departments, as well as the administrative offices. The third floor was devoted exclusively to Southern Music Company publications print and bindery operations. On May 20th through May 29th, 2000, Southern Music Company was closed to move to the present location at 1248 Austin Highway, Suite 212. The new Southern Music Company location is a larger, state-of-the-art retail and distribution center that enables us to offer our customers faster service and more convenience than ever! For over 60 years, Southern Music Company has worked to assemble one of the largest inventories of educational music in the world. The company has over 400,000 titles in stock representing over 500 publishers, worldwide. In addition, Southern Music Company - Publications Division has published over 5,000 educational and concert music titles. Southern Music Company services many festivals, contests, and clinics in San Antonio, in Texas and throughout the United States.
