Relative Value Studies , Inc.

http://www.rvsdata.com

Relative Value Studies, Inc. was founded in 1980 by M. Ray Painter, M.D., F.A.C.S. and Robert M. FitzGerald, J.D., M.P.A., M.S.W. Relative Value Studies, Inc. was initially created to develop relative value systems that are both accurate and comprehensive. Our databases are recognized as the most useful tools available for establishing, defending, and negotiating fees for medical, surgical, and dental procedures. RVSI's products and services provide: a coded listing of procedures and services with unit values to indicate the relative effort of each procedure user-friendly guidelines offer help in code use and interpretation coding, reimbursement guidelines, and practice management tips all in one place Although relative values are primarily used to develop and update fee schedules, this system can be used for contract development/negotiation (including capitation), productivity measurement, and income projection. Most importantly, this system is designed to provide a fair way of determining reimbursement for services rendered. The relative values for each procedure are determined by practitioner input (through survey). RVSI believes that practitioners are the most qualified (and appropriate) to provide information regarding the relative effort of each procedure. Data received is statistically normalized and then presented to a non-physican board. [Their names are not released to ensure that no lobbying of the members by either practitioner groups or payers takes place.] The results are reviewed by examining the consensus of data. The board accepts or rejects the data provided. It makes no changes to the unit values themselves. No unit value is changed unless practitioner survey data supports such a change. Relative Value Studies, Inc. is in the business of Making Your Business Easier.
