Plasti-Clad Metal Products was founded by Cyril Matthews and his son Richard Matthews in 1950. Together they invented a process to Bond Nylon to Steel and other Metals. They later developed techniques to apply plastics extremely uniform and concentric around various wires. Most of the earlier products involved work with Staples, Nails, Coat Hangars, Bobby Pins, Hair Pins, Paper Clips, Spiral Binding Wire and Dual Loop Bookbinding Wire. In the Early 60's they developed a corrosion resistant process for replacing Nickel Plated Brass Wire with a Nylon Coated Galvanized Steel Wire for Hooks & Eyes for Dresses and Brassieres.
