Incom, Inc. was founded in 1971 in Southbridge, MA, by J. Wilbur Hicks, the innovator and pioneer who founded the fiberoptic industry. Visitors to our two manufacturing facilities, now down the road from Southbridge in Charlton, MA, are amazed to see solid glass become fluid that pulls like taffy, eventually being drawn into millions of tiny fibers. In fact, a 1" round, 1" thick fiberoptic inverter can contain over one million feet of glass with 16 million fibers per square inch! Incom customers are the manufacturers of leading edge instruments and systems using fused fiberoptics, and have made Incom the largest provider of commercial fiberoptics in the world. Our product range is the broadest in the industry, with faceplates and tapers ranging from 2mm to 200mm in diameter and using 25 material combinations. In fact, it was Incom's patented furnace technology that lead to the 200mm taper , the largest in the world. Incom's manufacturing facilities are state-of-the-art, with teams that order 100 tons of glass at a time and draw over two billion miles of fiber per year. We also employ highly-trained assemblers, along with leading engineers to keep advancing fiberoptic technology to meet our customers' needs. This capability allows us to be not just a supplier, but a true partner to our customers. We offer product development services, product consignments, and just-in-time delivery. We invite your to visit our facilities, see our advance processes, talk with development engineers and find innovative solutions to your component requirements. Contact us to discuss partnership opportunities or to arrange a visit.
