  • The Law Center for Families (LCFF) continues in a long tradition of meeting the legal service needs of low-income families and individuals in Alameda County. We provide individual representation, advice, referrals and community education concerning: housing rights, family law/domestic violence, consumer law, economic support/public benefits, and language access. We also work toward accomplishing systemic change through impact litigation, and administrative or legislative advocacy. We are the only county-wide legal service provider that assists both indigent people and the working poor. Many of our clients are caught in the middle: they are ineligible for assistance from other programs, but too poor to hire a private attorney. We serve clients regardless of their immigration status and focus on serving communities that face multiple challenges such as those with limited English proficiency. We serve both the urban and outlying areas of the county. We coordinate with other legal service providers and community based organizations to promote clients' access to legal and non-legal services. Our staff is diverse, bilingual and bicultural. We work with the Legal Language Access Project to provide language accessible services in languages not spoken by our staff.
