  • The Royal Automobile Club of Victoria (RACV) was founded in December 1903 and quickly became Victoria's principal motoring organisation. Initially established as a motorists' social club, RACV set out to encourage the development of motoring, protect the rights of motorists and ensure fair legislation guided the use of motor vehicles in Victoria. Since those early days, RACV has maintained the initial objectives of the Club, while at the same time expanding and developing a range of services to meet the needs of motorists. Much of RACV's heritage collection reflects this history.
