The JJC was established in 1995 to lead the reform of the juvenile justice system in the State of New Jersey.
Our three primary responsibilities are the care and custody of juvenile offenders committed to the agency by the courts, the support of local efforts to provide services to at risk and court involved youth, and the supervision of youth on juvenile parole.
Woven through all JJC efforts is our charge to protect the citizens of the State of New Jersey. Every decision is made with the understanding that it is our responsibility to maintain personal safety, promote responsibility and build stronger communities.
The Commission emphasizes accountability and offers programming that afford young people the opportunity to become independent, productive and law abiding citizens.
